Registration and Intake:
Once you register with the online support, you will need to give us some information so we can help you best. The intake gathers basic information about you, your tobacco use history, and how addicted you are to the nicotine in tobacco.
Cessation Exercises and Making a Plan:
The cessation exercises will go more deeply into why you want to quit, your environment, support system, and your specific triggers (i.e. what makes you want to use tobacco). These exercises will help you build your quit plan because you need to be the one to decide how you will face your challenges and what changes you will need to make to prepare for your quit date.
Setting a Quit Date:
Putting a quit date on the calendar can be intimidating to some people it makes the commitment very real. Setting a quit date is a very important step to take when planning to quit because it gives you a target date. Remember that your quit date is the day that you intend to completely quit using tobacco.
Also remember that a quit date is not written in stone. Your quit date can change should you need it to, but remember it is best to set your quit date within 30 days if you are ready to quit now.
Online Support Sessions:
After completing your quit plan and setting a quit date, you will begin to receive feedback from your coach. Your coach will help you as you prepare to quit, and your coach will continue to offer feedback and support after you quit. Your sessions will address any areas of concern that you may have as you go through the process of quitting. So, feel free to ask questions as needed. Again, this is your quit attempt, and we can be there as much or as little as you need.
The majority of people who quit successfully used both the support services available and nicotine replacement or medications. Contacting the Tobacco Quitline or getting online support can help you with this quit attempt right away.
